Lake Elsinore council member spreads holiday cheer to local youth
By David Downey
Lake Elsinore Councilman Daryl Hickman and his wife, Amy, teamed up with Santa Claus on Thursday to deliver toys to 206 children.
The children were between the ages of 3 and 5 and attend 13 Head Start classes operated by the Lake Elsinore Unified School District.
Some toys were donated at Lake Elsinore City Hall and the Riverside Transit Agency collection boxes.
Other toys were purchased. According to Nicole Dailey, senior management analyst for the city of Lake Elsinore, the local Target store donated $100 and the Hickmans pitched in more than $600.
The kids who received toys are in Railroad Canyon Head Start, Lakeland Village Head Start, Machado Head Start, Jeannette Ellis Center and Home-based Head Start programs, Dailey said.
This was the 15th year the Hickmans have spread holiday cheer to area youth, she said.
