Kings blank Panthers, end four-game losing streak
LOS ANGELES — Jonny Brodzinski carried the puck into the high slot in the opening minutes of the third period Saturday afternoon at Staples Center. Or he tried to, anyway. The puck kept bouncing around on the ice. Just when it seemed he might lose control, he unleashed a backhanded shot toward the goal.
The puck settled into the upper reaches of the net for his first NHL goal in his 11th career game, a back-breaking strike that propelled the Kings to a 4-0 victory and the end of a four-game losing streak. Jussi Jokinen set up the goal for his second assist in two games since a trade from Edmonton.
Jokinen had one assist in 14 games with Edmonton before Tuesday’s trade.
