Kartje: Week 4 Monday night NFL pick, Washington at Kansas City

Kickoff: 5:30 p.m. (ESPN)

Outlook: Washington may be better than we thought it was. With two resounding victories in a row, the team comes to Kansas City with a chance to make a serious statement on “Monday Night Football.” Put your confidence in Kirk Cousins at your own risk, but Washington’s skill position players — Chris Thompson, especially — have been very good in recent weeks. The Chiefs, however, have been better. As the NFL’s hottest team, with the NFL’s hottest running back, it’s good to be Kansas City right now. But the Chiefs have a tendency to slip up in situations like this.

Player to watch: Justin Houston, EDGE. This game will be about making Cousins uncomfortable, and few players in the NFL are better at making quarterbacks squirm than Houston. He’s off to a frightening start already, with four sacks in three games.

Line: Chiefs by 7

Pick: Chiefs, 24-21
