Jurupa Valley OKs food truck rules
By Imran Ghori
Food truck operators will soon be able to get on the road in Jurupa Valley.
The City Council approved an application and inspection fee process for mobile food vending vendors at its Thursday, Nov. 16 meeting. Last month, the council gave final approval to an ordinance that would allow food trucks to operate in the city.
The council had initially approved food truck regulations in February.
Jurupa Valley’s ordinance requires businesses to obtain a permit from the county’s environmental health department and a business registration certificate and vending permit from the city. Trucks would be allowed to operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and would not be allowed within 50 feet of an intersection or 300 feet of a school.
The rules will make the city one of the few in Riverside County to allow food trucks to operate freely without special event permits since the county lifted its restrictions in 2013.
The city began looking into the issue in 2015 after a business owner approached the council.
