Joshua Tree man accused of striking girlfriend’s 6-year-old son
A Joshua Tree man was arrested for striking his girlfriend’s 6-year-old son after a Joshua Tree Elementary School teacher noticed the boy’s bruised face, San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials said.
The teacher made the call Thursday after noticing the boy’s injuries, according to a news release. Investigators learned the child’s mother’s boyfriend, 26-year-old Aidan Chairez, had hit the boy in the face and had pulled his hair.
A deputy was able to track down Chairez to a home in 64848 Walpi Drive, officials said. Chairez was arrested on suspicion of inflicting injury to a child.
He was booked into the Morongo Jail and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Booking records show he is also being held on previous offenses of throwing something at a moving vehicle, driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence.
