Jordan Lasley returns from three-game suspension to boost UCLA over Arizona State
PASADENA — Jordan Lasley stepped on to the podium and as he sat down, he sang, “I’m baaaack!”
UCLA was singing Lasley’s praises after the receiver returned from a three-game suspension and had a career-high 162 yards on seven catches in a 44-37 win over Arizona State on Saturday at the Rose Bowl.

The redshirt junior’s comeback came at the perfect time from the Bruins, who just lost leading receiver Darren Andrews the previous week to a season-ending knee injury. UCLA (5-5, 3-4 Pac-12) desperately needed a play-maker to help save its bowl hopes. But Lasley earned his place back with the team, head coach Jim Mora said.
“College is about learning, growing up, maturing, going through difficult times and persevering and learning how to manage your life and Jordan’s had some struggles, but Jordan’s persevered,” Mora said. “Jordan came back after three weeks away from this football team with, in my opinion, a little bit different perspective. … I was proud of him tonight not only for the plays that he made but the control that he showed when he didn’t make plays, for him being able to play with passion but harness it, for him to be able to play with emotion but not become very emotional and he’s a guy that we need.”
Mora did not specify the reason for the suspension, but said the coaching staff decided that this would be Lasley’s return before last week’s game at Utah. Mora has been monitoring the Gardena Serra product’s progress during the past three weeks.
