Jeep and inmate transport bus collision causes short highway lanes closure south of Beaumont
By Gail Wesson
A brief SigAlert was called for Highway 79/Lamb Canyon during the Tuesday evening commute after a collision between a Riverside County Sheriff’s transport bus carrying inmates and a Jeep.
The non-injury crash was reported at 6:07 p.m. on the southbound highway south of the Lamb Canyon dump road, according to a California Highway Patrol traffic incident log.
There were no injuries among those on the transport bus, according to Armando Munoz, sheriff’s deputy and spokesman.
The highway between San Jacinto and Beaumont is a heavily used commute route. Some lanes of the route were closed for less than 30 minutes, causing a back up not quite to California Avenue south of Beaumont.
