Highlanders tied for 12th:
The UC Riverside women’s golf team dropped two places during the second round of the UNLV Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, and is now tied for twelfth with Northern Arizona.
Jakeishya Le and Kayla Kwong lead the Highlanders with a score of 144 after the first 36 holes, although Kwong is competing as an individual. Le and Kwong both rank 14th on the Par 3s at one under par. They also each have six birdies, tying for 34th overall in the tournament.
Hana Furuichi’s 28 pars are tied for the fourth most in the tournament, and Hannah Facchini is currently tied for seventh with 27.
Fullerton 5, Norco 0:
Norco is now 2-12-3 overall, 1-10 in Orange Empire Conference action after the road loss.
Grossmont 3, Mt. San Jacinto 1:
The Eagles fell to the Grossmont College Griffins in a nonconference match at home.
Mt. San Jacinto heads back into conference action when they face the hosting San Bernardino Valley Wolverines on Friday at 3 p.m.
San Bernardino Valley 8, Cuyamaca 0:
Karen Jacobs led the Wolverines with two goals as San Bernardino Valley dominated the Cuyamaca College Coyotes in a nonconference match at home.
Jacobs scored back-to-back goals in the 18th and 23rd minutes before the Wolverines (14-1-1) rested several players against Cuyamaca.
Jada Calderon and Wendy Sanabia each added a goal and an assist in the victory.
The Wolverines’ Valerie Romero opened the scoring about five minutes in. Osmara Nunez Barrera and Sanabia scored before the end of the half, giving SBVC a 5-0 lead.
In the second half, Morgan Simmang, Calderon and Angelica Benitez added the final three goals to secure the victory.
Goalkeeper Lorean Mendoza had six saves before leaving the game injured.
Fullerton 3, Norco 0:
Norco is now 2-14 overall, 0-12 in the Orange Empire Conference after a loss at home.
