UC Riverside men’s soccer drops to 0-5 after a 5-4 overtime-loss to Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
UCR took an early lead with Emilio Huerta’s goal in the ninth-minute.
GCU answered with three goals, two of which were by Damian German.
The Highlanders scored three goals in the last 30 minutes to take a 4-3 lead. Antonio Lokossou, Anthony Lopez, and Roberto Garcia,Vargas each scored.
German tied the game in the 85th minute. GCU then secured the win in the 99th minute.
UCR will host Vermont on Sept. 17 at 11 a.m.

La Sierra 2, Hope International 1:
The Golden Eagles improve to 1-4 in the season after defeating Hope International University at home.
LSU will face Saint Katherine College on Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. The nonconference game will be played at La Sierra with SKC being the home team.
Chaffey 3, San Bernardino Valley 0:
The Wolverines fell 25-23, 25-19, 25-13 to the Chaffey Panthers on the road in nonconference action.
San Bernardino (2-7) extends its losing streak to four.
Pasadena City College 3, Mt. San Jacinto 1:
Luann O’Kane had a team-high nine kills as the Eagles fell 27-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-14 on the road in nonconference action.
Ashlyn Ferriera had 30 digs and Lannie Madducci had 17 assists in the loss.
CBU 3, Concordia Irvine 0:
Sydney Kralj 14 digs in Cal Baptist’s 25-21, 25-23, 25-11 PacWest victory over Concordia University Irvine in Riverside.
Kralj added 35 assists for a 301 season total. Madison Witt had 14 kills and three aces in the match.
The win puts the Lancers at 8-0 overall, 1-0 in conference. CBU will visit Dixie State on Sept. 16.
