Michele Curry had a double-double as the UC Riverside women’s basketball team dominated Long Beach State 77-53 at home for their first Big West Conference victory of the season.
UC Riverside (4-12, 1-1) led almost the entire game as they cruised to victory.
The Highlanders ended the first half on a 12-2 run after a highly contested start. And after leading 59-48 early in the fourth quarter, UCR closed the game on an 18-5 run.
Curry led all scorers with 23 points to tie Ronéy Friend (1,088 points, 2005-09) at No. 13 all-time in career points.
She also grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and the seventh of her career. Curry added six assists and a season-high five steals in the victory.
Teammate Marina Ewodo had her second double-double of her career with 12 points and 11 rebounds. She also contributed four assists, three blocks and three steals in her fifth consecutive start.
Jannon Otto had 14 points and four steals. While Lauren Holt chipped in 10 points.
UC Riverside finished with a season-high 15 steals and forced a season-high 22 turnovers. Long Beach State is 2-14, 0-2.

University of Redlands 58, Caltech 52:
The Bulldogs’ Reyna Ta’amu led all scorers with 21 points as they defeated the Caltech Beavers at home in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Ta’amu finished with a double-double after adding 10 rebounds.
Camille Mosley was the only other player in double-figures for U of R with 10. Both Cassandra Lacey and Allison Siksnus contributed eight points. Siksnus grabbed nine rebounds, while adding two assists and two blocks in 31 minutes of play.
Redlands (6-7, 2-3) improves to 6-2 at home after the victory. The Bulldogs will face the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on the road Monday at 7 p.m. in another SCIAC game.
