Dixie State 68, Cal Baptist 65:
Gabe Taylor led a trio of Lancers in double figures with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including a 3-of-4 performance from distance in the PacWest loss.
Jason Todd (5-for-11) wasn’t far behind Taylor, finishing with 14 points and five assists, while Bul Kuol (3-for-6) chipped in 11 points, seven rebounds, a block and a steal.
Kalidou Diouf, who was double teamed most of the night, was right on the cusp with nine points and dished out a career-high six assists. Jordan Heading also had nine points on the night.
The Lancers drop to 12-3 overall, 5-2 in the PacWest, while the Trailblazers improve to 9-6 on the year, 6-2 in conference.
Whittier 91, Redlands 88:
Trevor Baker led all players with 25 points, which included six baskets from downtown. Sponheim provided a 20-point effort that was highlighted by a 63.6% shooting performance. He also dished out six assists.
David Menary registered a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds to go along with five assists. Hass Berry paced the Bulldogs’ bench with 11 points and six rebounds.
Redlands (4-9, 2-3 SCIAC) takes on the Leopards of the University of La Verne on Wednesday, January 10, at 7 p.m. in Currier Gym.
Cal Baptist 57, Dixie State 50:
A fourth-quarter run guided the Lancers to a 57-50 win on the road in the Burns Arena, as they improve to 8-7, 5-2 in the PacWest and defeat Dixie State (7-8, 3-5) for the second time this season.
Tori Mitchell scored in double digits for the 13th time in 15 games this year, with 22 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in 27 minutes. Lexy Ram nearly completed a double-double, as well, with 16 points and nine boards.
