The Cal Baptist swimming team got two NCAA Division II consideration times at Pepperdine’s Malibu Invite on Friday.
Robert Griffith beat the D-II B cut by almost 20 seconds when he touched the wall in 15 minutes, 45.99 seconds with a 16:05.01 qualifier.
Brandon Schuster came in under the consideration time with his 4:01.17 being .23 of a second faster than the 4:01.40 B mark. Schuster also had the fastest time of the day in the 500 free with a 4:38.73.
La Sierra 3, Embry-Riddle (AZ) 0:
The Golden Eagles took a California Pacific Conference victory over Embry-Riddle at home.
Embry-Riddle put La Sierra on the board with an own goal in the first half.
In the second half, Israel Vasquez scored a penalty kick to give the Golden Eagles the 2-0 lead.
La Sierra (8-5, 6-1) added another goal late in the second half to get the victory.
San Bernardino Valley 4, Southwestern 2:
Andrew Quiroz had two goals and an assist as the Wolverines took a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference victory at home over the Southwestern College Jaguars.
With the win, San Bernardino takes back its first place spot in the PCAC.
Tony Vallejo added a goal and two assists in the victory.
SBVC goaltender Carlos Murillo made four saves to earn the win. Christopher Gomez made three saves in relief after Murillo was involved in a collision in front of his net and was forced from the game.
San Bernardino improves to 9-7-1 overall and 7-2-1 in conference.
Embry-Riddle (AZ) 2, La Sierra 0:
La Sierra fell to Embry-Riddle at home in a California Pacific Conference match.
With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Embry-Riddle scored its first goal to take the 1-0 lead. They added their second and final goal early into the second half.
The Golden Eagles drop to 10-4 overall and 3-3 in conference.
