Human remains found near Metrolink tracks in Upland

The Metrolink tracks have been shut down between Rancho Cucamonga and Montclair after a train conductor noticed human remains near the tracks Friday morning, officials said.

“Around 5:13 this morning, the conductor for Metrolink train 305 noticed human remains along the tracks and reported it,” said Michael Atchue, spokesman for Metrolink adding that the train did not hit the person.

The tracks have been closed and Upland Police are investigating the death.

A Metrolink tweet initially reported someone was struck by a train, but Atchue said that was not clear explaining that it may have been possible the person was hit by an earlier train. However, there were no reports of train strikes in the area, he said.

“It’s still all under investigation,” he said.
