GARDENA SERRA (6-4) at CENTENNIAL (8-1)
Game info: Centennial is 10-1 in the playoffs since being moved into the top division, the first a memorable 68-64 victory over Serra in 2014. There hasn’t been much suspense to Centennial’s games this season, as each of the Huskies’ wins have ended with a running clock. Tanner McKee has been extremely efficient running the offense, completing 67.6 percent of his passes with 21 touchdowns and only one interception. Camron Pitcher leads an aggressive Centennial defense from his linebacker spot. Serra comes into the game off a 24-20 victory over Long Beach Poly. Bryan Addison and Merlin Robertson are a pair of 4-star recruits for the Cavaliers, and they will see action on both sides of the ball.
SANTA MARGARITA (7-3) at MURRIETA VALLEY (8-2)
Game info: Welcome to the world of Division 1, where every playoff opponent is a tough out. Murrieta Valley won the Southwestern League for the second consecutive year, has won six games in a row, and has a receiver in Marquis Spiker whose next receiving touchdown will set a new career state record. But this game will be a challenge. Santa Margarita plays in the ultra-competitive Trinity League with the likes of Mater Dei and St. John Bosco. The Eagles won three of four to end the season, with the loss coming in a 40-38 heartbreaker to St. John Bosco. Like the Nighthawks, their offense has produced about 4,600 yards in 10 games, with senior Chad Magyar running for 1,301 yards and 17 touchdowns.
NORCO (6-4) vs. LOS ALAMITOS (7-3) at CERRITOS COLLEGE, NORWALK
Game info: Norco’s offense had 903 yards in last week’s 83-42 victory over Roosevelt, only 43 yards shy of the state record held by Big VIII League rival Centennial. Travis Dye rushed for 346 […]
