HSGameTime high school boys soccer teams to watch

Here are 10 boys soccer teams in the Inland area to watch during the 2017-18 season.

Teams were selected from schools within the coverage area of The Press-Enterprise.

Arlington: Coach Kevin Watson’s team is off to its hottest start ever, outscoring opponents 21-1 over its first six games, and is stacked in midfield with ‘Lalo’ Rodriguez and Adrian Gomez.

Bloomington: The Sunkist League champion has 16 seniors on the roster and is looking to coach Marc Howard to resolve the differences between another league title and a CIF-SS division title.

Chaparral: Secured a Southwestern League title in head coach Brandon Wiseman’s first season at the helm, and senior defensive midfielder Alec Fonseca returns to guide a young attacking core.

Citrus Hill: Coach Josh Nash’s Hawks claimed their first CIF Southern Section title last season but lost in the CIF State regional championship game to Indian Springs in a rematch of the section final.

Corona: Coach Ernie Parra put together a playoff team in his first season in control of the reins, but may have to let loose the elite-level attacking talent he has on his hands this year.

Indian Springs: Promoted JV coach Isaac Canella takes over a team that lost the CIF-SS Division 5 title game to Citrus Hill but bounced back to beat the Hawks in the CIF State Division IV regional championship.

King: This balanced bunch is a perennial playoff team searching for the missing piece or two to unlock head coach Todd Mapes’ methodology and deliver titles on his tactical acumen.

Redlands East Valley: The coaches have changed, with Mario Urbano replacing Ted Small, but the expectations have remained the same for the Wildcats, the Inland area’s only CIF-SS Division 1 team.
