How to get Comic-Con 2018 badges and help kids in hurricane ravaged areas at the same time

Want to attend the largest pop-culture convention in all the land plus help children in need? Well, there’s an auction for that.
Comic-Con International will be auctioning off 10 pairs of 2018 badges starting Thursday afternoon, Oct. 26, with all proceeds going to support UNICEF USA, according a Toucan Blog post from the organization.
“We want to give back to communities struggling to rebuild in the wake of devastating weather events,” the blog states. “Today, nearly 3 million residents of Puerto Rico are without electricity and 1 million children in Texas are unable to start school as they struggle to rebuild damaged education and daycare facilities.”
UNICEF USA is a non-profit organization that helps with disaster relief, specially looking to help children in impacted areas such as hurricane battered Puerto Rico and Texas.
Four sets of badges will go to auction for 24 hours on eBay beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday. Another six sets will be auctioned at 9 a.m. Saturday, according to the blog. The sets include badges for all four days of the San Diego convention including Preview Night in July.

So how do you get into Comic-Con normally? Those who are lucky enough to score badges to Comic-Con usually do so through an elaborate lottery system.
Those who have attended the mega convention are eligible to participate in returning registration at 9 a.m. Saturday. The rest of us have to wait for open registration at a yet to be announced date, hopefully before the new year.
