Horse corral on 74 Freeway saved from flames in Perris area
Firefighters saved a horse corral while battling a 1-acre blaze on a ranch property in the Perris area Friday, Dec. 1, 2017.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 2:30 p.m. at Betty Road and Highway 74, in the unincorporated community of Good Hope, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
Motorists spotted the flames in a field and notified the fire department. Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and initially requested air tankers from the Hemet-Ryan Fire Attack Base to assist, but canceled the air support as containment lines were quickly established.
Several power lines were down and a light pole was scorched, indicating a possible ignition source, according to reports from the scene.
