Hemet police seek witnesses to Jan. 2 fatal crash

Hemet police are seeking witnesses to a 5:40 p.m. fatal crash reported Jan. 2 on Warren Road north of Devonshire Avenue as part of their investigation, according a police news release.
It appears two vehicles collided head on after one of the drivers crossed over the double yellow line and into oncoming traffic on the north-south road.
Warren is a popular commuter route on the west end of the San Jacinto Valley.
A 2013 Hyundai Accent collided with a 1996 Ford Ranger and the driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim identified as Jovanny Moreno, 33, of Hemet, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6 p.m., according to a Riverside County Sheriff/Coroner’s news release.
There was no obvious evidence of intoxication, but toxicology results are pending, according to the police news release. The other driver, who survived, has not been identified by name.
Warren Road was closed from Devonshire Avenue to Esplanade Avenue for about four hours for the traffic investigation.
