Hemet police have identified the suspect who was shot as he reportedly brandished a knife and aggressively advanced towards officers responding to a domestic violence call in a shopping center Saturday, Oct. 28, according to police.
Michael Martin, 34, of Hemet remained hospitalized Monday, Oct. 30, for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police spokesman Lt. Glen Brock.
Martin refused to drop the knife after several requests by officers, leading to the shooting, according to the initial police account. No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.
The incident in the 3500 block of West Florida Avenue remains under investigation.
