Hemet man surrenders after standoff with police

A Hemet man accused of domestic violence and armed with a handgun barricaded himself inside his home before he was arrested Friday, police said.
Police responded Friday, Dec. 22 at 5:20 p.m. to the 700 block of Coral Avenue to reports by a woman that her husband had assaulted her over the last couple days, according to a Hemet Police Department news release.
The Hemet-Murrieta Regional SWAT team was called after the man, who was armed with a handgun and intoxicated, barricaded himself inside the home. He later surrendered peacefully.
Jose Marquez, 48, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, making terrorist threats and false imprisonment.
