Hear why Beaumont sewer rates will likely be rising
By Craig Shultz
Proposed sewer rate increases in Beaumont will be discussed at a community meeting on Thursday, Feb. 15.
City officials are proposing to increase rates to pay for a $110 million upgrade and expansion of the wastewater treatment plant. At the 6 p.m. meeting, the second of two workshops after one last month, officials will share background and information about the sewer system, review current rates and discuss state mandates and what they mean for the system.
Beaumont provides sewer service for the city and some nearby properties. The city does not have a water department.
The workshop is at the Civic Center.
