Hazmat responds to strong chemical smell from Grand Terrace High classroom

San Bernardino County Fire crews were called to Grand Terrace High School for reports of a strong chemical smell coming from a classroom late Wednesday morning.

There were about three to five students and one staff member complaining of having problems breathing, according to initial dispatch reports.

GrandTerrace(Update): ME23 is Main IC. 3-5 students and 1 staff member with minor respiratory complaints. HazMat team enroute. Substance preliminarily described as a chemical irritant.

Fire crews were initially called out to the school at 21810 Main Street around 11:30 a.m., according to authorities.

Ambulances and a HazMat crew was requested to respond to the school, officials said.
