The Honda Center in Anaheim played host on Friday, Oct. 27 to hip-hop’s renaissance man, as Jay-Z’s 4:44 Tour began its 31-city nationwide trek. Touring in support of his 13th studio release, Jay dropped the record on June 30 and within a week the album had already gone platinum. That very same excitement resonated inside the arena, as the live translation made for a spectacular show. Performing selections spanning his entire 20-plus year career, Jay’s 90 minutes resonated more timeless than trendy. For those who missed it, the tour finale provides a second session at The Forum on Dec. 21.
