Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 80-year-old man Thanksgiving evening after they say he shot his daughter’s boyfriend during an argument.

San Bernardino County sheriff’s Fontana deputies arrested Wallace Thomas of Fontana on suspicion of attempted murder, officials said.

Deputies were called to a home in the 14200 block of Upas Court just before 5 p.m. for a shooting, according to a sheriff’s news release.

In the backyard, deputies found a 63-year-old Palmdale man suffering from several gunshot wounds, sheriff’s officials said.

Investigators said Thomas and the Palmdale man were arguing and Thomas allegedly shot the 63-year-old. The wounded man was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. His current condition was not released.

Sheriff’s officials said the victim is the boyfriend of Thomas’ daughter.

Authorities recovered a gun registered to Thomas at the 80-year-old’s home, the statement said.

Thomas was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.

Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the shooting. They ask anyone with information to call Detective Eric Lugo at the Fontana Station at 909-356-6727. Anonymous tips can also be left at the We-tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or at www.wetip.com.
