Fontana brush fire threatens homes, businesses
No evacuations were ordered after a second alarm rang out Wednesday sending additional firefighters to a Fontana intersection where they were battling a brush fire heading in the direction of homes and businesses.
“The fire is burning at a moderate rate of spread and is being pushed by winds,” San Bernardino County Fire spokesman Eric Sherwin said. “It began to make its way towards structures so a defensive line has been established.”
The fire, dubbed the Jurupa Fire, broke out just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Jurupa Avenue and Beech Street and has reportedly charred nearly 10 acres of brush.
Structural defense has been placed along Teaberry Ct., Daybreak Lane and Ridgecrest Dr., Sherwin said.
