Firefighters used a rope-rigging system to rescue a horse that had gotten lodged between a hole and a tree in the Santa Ana River bottom in Jurupa Valley on Saturday night.
The incident was reported at 9:07 p.m. near Limonite and Ridgeview avenues, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department news release. The firefighters were able to steady and upright the horse, which got out of the ordeal unharmed, the release said.
The specially trained Norco Animal Rescue Team and animal control were en route, but were turned around once the horse was freed.
