A vegetation fire near a golf course at Camp Pendleton that burned 50 acres was nearly contained and forward progress had been stopped, Camp Pendleton officials posted on Facebook Tuesday night.

The Camp Pendleton Fire Department was dispatched to the scene about 1:20 p.m. on June 13. The fire started between the Oceanside Municipal Golf Course and Marine Memorial Golf Course, according to a Facebook post.

A private drone flying in the burn area temporarily caused fire aircraft assigned to the incident to be grounded, the post said.

About 6 p.m. authorities reported that the forward progress on the fire had been stopped but ground crews from both Camp Pendleton and the Oceanside Fire Department were going to remain on the scene.

There were no threats to structures or personnel, the post said. The cause of the fire was unknown.
