Fast-moving brush fire near Lake Mathews grows to 200 acres
A wildfire near Lake Mathews quickly grew to nearly 200 acres on Tuesday evening and forced the closure of Cajalco Road.
As of 7:30 p.m., firefighters had stopped the fire’s forward progress and it was 10 percent contained.
Cajalco was closed between El Sobrante Road and La Sierra Avenue and between Temescal Canyon Road and La Sierra Avenue, according to a Riverside County Fire Department incident report.

Dubbed the Eagle Fire, it was first reported at 4:55 p.m. as a 25-acre fire near Tin Mine Road and La Sierra Avenue.
More than 200 firefighters were battling the fire with 23 engine companies, four air tankers, three helicopters, and two bulldozers, among other resources.
A fire investigator was on scene. The area is mostly grass and shrubs, which are tinder-dry this time of year.
