Richard and Sharon (Goerke) Biber, 14-year residents of Hemet, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 27, with friends Phil and Ethel Rizzo, who are also celebrating 50 years of marriage. This summer the Bibers plan to celebrate at a large family reunion in Buffalo, N.Y.

Rich pursued Sharon for 8 months before their first date on July 2, 1967. Twelve days later they were engaged, and were married in Buffalo on Jan. 27, 1968.

In 1978 they moved to Riverside where Mrs. Biber operated the Biber Day Care Center until retiring in 2003. She shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with many families over the years.

Mr. Biber worked for FPC Graphics for 21 years. In 1998 he became the Executive Director for the Parkview Community Hospital Foundation and in 2002 he moved on to assume the role of Director of Development for Hemet, Menifee and Moreno Valley hospital foundations where he worked until 2009. He currently works part-time for the Healthy Valley Foundation and is a Community Outreach Liaison with Hemet and Menifee Valley medical centers.

They have three sons, Robert Biber, of South Dakota; Paul Biber, of Saginaw, Mich.; and the late David Biber; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
