Several people had to find places to go after a fire ripped through their Riverside home early Friday morning, City of Riverside Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters battled heavy smoke and fire at a home in the 2800 block of Fairmount Blvd around 3 a.m., according to news release.

Crews worked for about 20 minutes to knock down the flames at the building described as “a two story multi-family residence.”

Everyone inside the home was able to get out safely and were able to find places to go for the night, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
