A San Dimas woman sits in jail charged with three counts of animal cruelty after police found one of three animals dead in her parked car Sunday.

Ontario police officers found the animals in the car shortly after 1:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of E. Shelby Street, according to police records.

Ontario police officers, along with Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA officers, broke the windows of the car to rescue the animals.

Temperatures inside the car exceeded 110 degrees, officials said.

One of the dogs was dead. A second dog along with a cat were still alive but under heavy distress, according to a IVHS news release.

The dog and cat are being treated by veterinarians and will continue to be treated during the course of the investigation.

Officials didn’t say how long the animals were in the car.

Jail records show Jennifer Lynn Arriaga, 42, was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
