A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy shot a dog in Menifee on Wednesday, Nov. 29, the department said. The dog survived.

About 11:30 a.m., deputies from the courts division were serving civil papers at a residence in the 27600 block of Dale Street when the dog was shot, department spokesman Deputy Michael Vasquez said.

The dog was treated at a veterinarian’s office, Vasquez said.

The shooting is under investigation, and no information on why the dog was shot was available for release Wednesday afternoon, Vasquez said.
