Deputies arrest suspect in Mead Valley fatal shooting

PERRIS — Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday arrested a suspect in the shooting death of Francisco Agustin-Estrada, in Mead Valley.

Maurilio Chavez, 30, of Good Hope was taken to the Cois Byrd Detention Center where he is held without bail, the agency said in a statement Saturday night.

On Oct. 3, deputies from the Perris Station responded to a shooting on residential property on the 20000 block of Gaston Road, in Mead Valley.

They found Agustin-Estrada on the property with a gunshot wound. Deputies began life-saving procedures until paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead, according to the statement released Saturday.
