D23 Expo: ‘Pixar Pier’ to replace Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure
More Pixar attractions are coming to Disney California Adventure.
The Walt Disney Co. announced the Paradise Pier and Boardwalk area will be re-themed and called the “Pixar Pier.”
“It’s going to be the home of Pixar characters,” said John Lasseter. The Pixar and Disney Animation chief creative officer referred to well-known computer-animated characters such as Buzz Lightyear and Woody in the “Toy Story” franchise, the superheros from “The Incredibles” and the emotions from “Inside Out.”
Lasseter joined Bob Chapek, the chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts, in announcing the future attractions at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure on the second day of the company’s D23 Expo fan convention at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Disney officials did not give a date when the re-theme of the pier and boardwalk would begin.
