Crews contain rooftop fire in Banning

BANNING — A rooftop fire that broke out atop a Banning apartment complex was quickly contained by firefighters Friday.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 2:45 p.m. at a two-story apartment building in the 200 block of West Nicolet Street, Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department said.

Nearly 20 firefighters responded to a blaze on the roof of the building, which fire crews contained at 3:13 p.m., Hagemann said.

No residents were displaced as a result of the fire, the cause of which was under investigation.
