A 23-year-old Corona resident has been identified as the man who died after the vehicle he was in went over a dirt embankment and caught fire in the Horsethief Canyon area on Saturday night, Feb. 3.
Saul Flores was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:38 p.m., according to a Riverside County coroner’s report.
The solo-vehicle crash was reported about 9:10 p.m. about half a mile north of Horsethief Canyon Road, near De Palma Road, according to the coroner and the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department. That area’s ZIP code identifies it as Corona but it is closer to Lake Elsinore.
The California Highway Patrol in Riverside is investigating the crash. CHP officials could not be reached Sunday for additional details.
