Corona driver not wearing seat belt dies in 15 Freeway crash
By Brian Rokos
A 38-year-old Corona resident died Wednesday night, Oct. 4, when his car overturned on the 15 Freeway on the Corona-Norco border and he was ejected, authorities said.
The Riverside County coroner identified him as Orlando Cerda, and the California Highway Patrol said he was not wearing a seat belt.
About 7 p.m., Cerda was driving a 2005 Nissan north on the 15, just south of the Hidden Valley Parkway exit. For some undetermined reason, the car veered to the right, up the embankment and overturned. Cerda was ejected onto the right shoulder, the CHP said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP asks that anyone with information on the crash call accident investigators at 951-637-8000.
