Contractor erecting a fence punctures gas line in Corona

A contractor working adjacent to a Corona home punctured a gas line Friday.

The rupture was reported about 11:55 a.m. in the 1600 block of Lorraine Drive, about 2 miles southwest of the 91-15 interchange, according to the Corona Fire Department.

Firefighter John DeYoe told City News Service that a contractor erecting a fence struck the half-inch line with a shovel.

Technicians from the Southern California Gas Co. arrived about a half-hour later and began working to repair the damage.

The punctured line was repaired just before 1 p.m.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to correct the status of evacuations. The Gas Company reports that no evacuations took place.
