Colton police search for suspects in early morning shooting

One man was wounded when an early morning argument turned into a shooting, Colton police said Tuesday, July 4.

The shooting occurred at 6:30 a.m. when a man walking on Washington Street was approached by two suspects. Police said the suspects got into a verbal argument with the victim. One of the suspects pulled a gun and shot the man in the upper shoulder.

He was taken to a local hospital where he is undergoing surgery, according to a news release from the Colton Police Department.

Detectives are investigating the shooting as an attempted homicide. Police ask anyone with information to call the Colton Police Department at 909-370-5028.
