BEAUMONT >> For Citrus Hill, things got crazy very quickly. And then they got very calm.

After nearly losing a seemingly safe lead, the Hawks put together a near-perfect possession when it mattered most. The rewards were plentiful: a three-point play, a 68-60 victory over Beaumont and the guarantee of at least a share of the Mountain Pass League basketball title.

“Having three seniors on the floor helps,” Citrus Hill coach Davey Hopkins said of his team’s composure in the chaos. “We do a lot of situational work in practice and it paid off.”
