Candlelight vigil set for 3-year-old Zayla Rank, whose mom is accused of killing her
A candlelight vigil will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Riverside in memory of 3-year-old Zayla Rank, whose mother is accused of beating the child to death.
Vigil participants are asked to bring candles and meet at the Galleria at Tyler mall at the parking lots near Forever 21. Ribbons and buttons will be available and the vigil will go right on Magnolia, left on Hole Avenue and right on County Circle, where the vigil will end in front of a county mental health facility.
Family members say Zayla’s mother, Susan Marie Rank, 30, suffered from mental instability stemming from a congenital brain tumor, but was unable to get treatment.
The county has said it could not comment on the matter because of the active criminal investigation.
Susan Rank has been charged with murder and is next scheduled to be in court the day of the march.
