Cal League roundup: Wednesday, August 30
Quincy Latimore hit a home run in the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes’ 6-4 win over the Lancaster JetHawks at The Hangar.
Latimore’s homer tied the game 1-1 at the top of the fourth, followed by Lancaster’s two runs the same inning. Mylz Jones scored on a throwing error by Omar Estevez, while Chris Rabago stole home for a 3-1 Lancaster lead.
Rabago scored again in the seventh on a Yonathan Daza single. Luke Raley closed the gap to 4-3 with a two-run single in the eighth.
Rancho took the 6-4 lead in the ninth with two runs off of Ibandel Isabel’s single, who then scored on a Zach McKinstry single.
Nolan Long (2-0) pitched an inning, struck out one and allowed a hit to take home the win.
Giants 3, 66ers 0>>
San Jose took an early 2-0 lead while the Inland Empire 66ers remained scoreless.
Cristian Paulino scored on Bryan Reynolds’ sacrifice fly to right fielder Keith Grieshaber in the first. Matt Winn added a RBI-double to extend the lead in the second.
With two outs in the ninth, Reynolds singles on a line drive to left field, bringing in Paulino for a 3-0 game.
Storm 12, Nuts 6>>
Fernando Perez homered twice against the Nuts and drove in three runs in the Storm’s victory at John Truman Field.
Perez homered in the second inning and drove in Ruddy Giron in the sixth.
In the fifth inning, Rod Boykin hit a two-run single and Michael Gettys hit a two-run home run.
Giron hit a two-run double as part of the Storm’s five runs in the seventh inning.
Perez went 3 for 5 with three runs scored.
Gettys went 2 for 5 and finished with three RBIs with two runs scored.
Giron and Boykin added two RBIs. They each went 2 for 5 with two runs scored.
