The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes defeated the Inland Empire 66ers, 6-4, at San Manuel Stadium in a Cal League game Saturday.

Mike Trout scored Inland Empire’s first run on a Matt Thaiss double to left. Thaiss reached third on a wild pitch and scored on a Taylor Ward double for a 2-0 lead.

In the second inning, Rancho’s Zach McKinstry grounded out to first, scoring Luke Raley.

IE followed up with two more runs in the bottom of the second to extend its lead to 4-1. Jake Yacinich homered to right-center field for the first run in the second, and then Troy Montgomery’s double brought in Trout.

DJ Peters and Raley each drove in runs in the third to close the gap to 4-3. Drew Jackson scored on Yusniel Diaz’s single to left to tie the score in the fourth.

Peter’s RBI-single gave Rancho a 5-4 lead.

In the seventh, Garrett Kennedy doubled to center field, bringing home Johan Mieses from first.

Michael Boyle (3-1) got the win with three innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while IE starter Austin Robichaux (2-6) took the loss.

IE dropped to 39-48 while Rancho is 46-41.
