RIVERSIDE >> Chiseled bodies coated with artificial tan and body oil packed the Fox Performing Arts Center on Saturday during the NPC West Coast Classic Bodybuilding Competition and Fitness Expo.

More than 350 athletes participated in Saturday’s event, which was expected to draw between 2,000 and 3,000 spectators, said NPC West Coast Classic producer Chris Minnes.

“There’s no other event in Southern California this large except for the Lou Ferrigno Legacy, which takes place in Palm Springs in November,” Minnes said Saturday, standing in the expo hall amid dozens of vendor booths.

The event featured a free health expo from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with about 50 vendor booths, and an evening bodybuilding competition on the theater stage. Celebrity bodybuilders also made appearances, including Oksana Grishina, Jerome “Hollywood” Ferguson, Sergio Oliva Jr., and Brad “Front” Row.
