The brother of Las Vegas mass-shooter Stephen Paddock was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing child pornography in Valley Village, authorities said Wednesday.

Bruce Paddock was taken into custody at an assisted living home, according to a law enforcement source.

Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Chris Ramirez told the Daily News that a male adult was detained after LAPD conducted a child pornography investigation this morning on the 5300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

“We have not confirmed any official arrests at this time,” Ramirez said, adding no further information would be given.

According to the Associated Press, Bruce Paddock is not considered a suspect in the Las Vegas shooting, said a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation but not authorized to discuss it publicly.

The child porn case predates the shooting, the official said, and it wasn’t immediately known if Bruce Paddock has an attorney.

On Oct. 1, Stephen Paddock fatally shot 58 people from the Mandalay Bay hotel while hundreds more were wounded at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas.

Eric Paddock, another brother of Stephen, spoke to the media following the shooting, but Bruce Paddock did not.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the FBI assisted a task force this morning at the arrest, but the LAPD is the lead agency as it’s not a federal case but a state matter.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Editor’s note: The location of Bruce Paddock’s arrest was originally listed as North Hollywood in this story. The address provided by the LAPD is in Valley Village.
