Days after a Rosemead man went missing in Lake Perris, a body was found in the lake Friday morning, state park officials said.

The body “floated near the dam,” said John Rowe, state park superintendent in an email. The body was discovered by a bass fisherman and as of 10 a.m., the Riverside County coroner was called to the scene.

Officials have not confirmed the body found Friday morning is that of Steven Ly, a 24-year-old Rosemead man who disappeared underwater Monday, officials said.

Ly and his girlfriend were swimming from a pontoon rental boat when the Rosemead man began to struggle and went under water, according to officials.

The woman made it to the boat and flagged down a fisherman to call for help.

State park rangers used their boat and their scuba dive team and also obtained assistance from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department dive team.

Neither Ly nor his girlfriend wore life jackets.
