Body found after firefighters extinguish grass fire in Mead Valley

Riverside County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the discovery of a body after firefighters extinguished a vegetation fire in a Mead Valley field Friday morning, officials said.

Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters were called to the fire near Cajalco Road and Haines Street around 5:30 a.m., according to a fire department news release.

After crews put out the large spot of vegetation on fire, they discovered the body in the burn area, the statement said.

It’s unclear if the body is that of a male or female.

Riverside County sheriff’s detectives were called out and are investigating the death.
