Beaumont-area housing tract goes before land commission
By Craig Shultz
The long-planned Sunny-Cal housing tract could take another step toward fruition Thursday, July 27, when a regional agency discusses annexing the land where it’s to be built from unincorporated Cherry Valley into Beaumont.
Sunny-Cal is a proposed development of almost 500 homes that would be built east of Interstate 10, between Cherry Valley Boulevard and Brookside Avenue.
Beaumont approved the specific plan for 200 acres on the site of the former Sunny-Cal egg ranch a decade ago, but there have been a series of obstacles since.
The project will be decided the Local Agency Formation Commission, which settles boundary disputes. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. at the County Administrative Center, 4080 Lemon St.
