Attempted murder suspect arrested in Riverside; victim in critical condition
An altercation Saturday night near the Van Buren Drive In Theatre in Riverside left one man in critical condition at the hospital and another in jail, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.
Officers responded to a call at the intersection of Aralia Drive and Gibson Street just after 8:30 p.m., Riverside police said in a news release. The altercation was over by the time officers arrived, but they found a man in the roadway who had a head injury and was unresponsive, Officer Ryan Railsback said. The victim remained hospitalized Sunday.
Through interviews of people on the scene, they identified Riverside resident Mark Kent Pritos McMichael, 35, as the suspect, Railsback said. He arrested at a location on Aralia Drive about 5:15 a.m. Sunday, booking logs show. Bail was set at $1 million.
In addition to attempted murder, McMichael was arrested on a warrant issued in 2016 in a misdemeanor drug-possession case, according to jail and Riverside County court records.
McMichael has a criminal record dating to 2001 in Riverside County, court records show, including felony convictions for assault, vandalism, resisting arrest, drug possession and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
