Riverside County sheriff’s detectives are looking for answers after they found a man and woman shot in a car in San Jacinto on Wednesday.

Deputies were called to the area of Ramona Expressway and North Warren Road just before noon for reports of “unknown trouble,” according to a sheriff’s press release.

Paramedics took the wounded pair to a hospital, but they later died, officials said. Their identities had not been released, as of Thursday morning.

Initial California Highway Patrol reports show the vehicle had bullet holes in it.

Images from the scene shows a small Chevrolet hatchback with its back window shattered by what appear to be multiple bullet holes, sitting in a ditch near the roadway.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department-Central Homicide Unit and San Jacinto Station investigators are requesting the public’s assistance with any information on the fatal shooting. They are asked to call Investigator Gomez of the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at 760-393-3527.
